WebConsidering the knee laxity, the treatment was planned according to grade 2 MCL sprain. The patient had a more pronounced laxity (++) in the follow-up examinations compared to the baseline evaluation (+). We attributed this to the suboptimal valgus stress test due to severe pain at the initial examination. WebStandard treatment includes: Crutches may be necessary if muscle weakness and guarding are great. A knee brace may be helpful temporarily. Ice application frequently repeated for periods of 20-30 minutes, repeated 3-4 times per day. Physical therapy may be helpful to diminish swelling and encourage return of full motion.
